This month saw the release of the GeForce RTX 30 series of GPUs from NVIDIA. Once again NVIDIA is claiming groundbreaking AI rendering that boosts frame rates through their DLSS technology. DLSS was first introduced with the RTX 20 series. More recently NVIDIA has released DLSS 2.0. How much better is DLSS 2.0 over the original version? Find out here.

One of the best free 3D creation suites has to be Blender. GameDev.net recently posted a tutorial that goes over the Blender user interface. Read more here.

This month Unity announced that Unity Learn Premium will remain available at no cost to everyone. It was initially offered as a complementary 3 months access back in 19 March 2020. The community response to this move was so overwhelmingly positive that Unity has decided to keep Unity Learn Premium available to everyone. Read more here.

25 May 2020.
Epic Games recently revealed Unreal Engine 5. Some of the new technology featured in Unreal Engine 5 includes: Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry; and Lumen dynamic global illumination. Unreal Engine 5 will be available in preview early 2021. In the meantime, you can read more and view the tech demo here.

NVIDIA GeForce drivers R440 or later now supports accelerated Windows Remote Desktop streaming using a special DesignWorks tool. Read more here.

Microsoft has just announced DirectX 12 Ultimate. This new API is intended to unify PC and Xbox Series X graphics. You can read the announcement here.

18 March 2020.
The Khronos Group has released the provisional extensions for Vulkan Ray Tracing. Vulkan Ray Tracing consists of several Vulkan, SPIR-V, and GLSL extensions. The primary ones include: VK_KHR_ray_tracing, VK_KHR_pipeline_library, and VK_KHR_deferred_host_operations. The extensions are available on the Vulkan Registry. Read the official press release here.

The Khronos Group has released the specifications for Vulkan 1.2. This new version adds 23 extensions to the core Vulkan API. Read more here.
