At this year's Game Developers Conference Europe AMD gave a presentation on DirectX 12 and Vulkan. You can view the slides from the presentation here.

This month saw the release of Windows 10 and with it DirectX 12. AMD recently released a video providing an overview of the DirectX 12 API. You can watch it here.

29 June 2015.
Mesa 3D Graphics Library 10.6.0 was released this month. New features in this development release includes support for the OpenGL 3.3 API. Read more.

Also released this month was release 4.8 of the Unreal Engine. The 4.8 release is the largest update to the engine to date including 189 changes. Read more.

27 May 2015.
This month saw the release of Godot 1.1 and Synthclipse 1.0.0.

Godot is an open source multi-platform 2D and 3D game engine powered by OpenGL, OpenGL ES and WebGL. The 1.1 release contains a brand new 2D engine with an impressive list of advanced features. The developers have uploaded a video on YouTube showcasing the new features in the Godot 1.1.

Synthclipse is a GLSL Shader prototyping tool based on the Eclipse IDE. It support fragment, vertex, geometry, tessellation and compute shaders.

11 March 2015.
The Khronos Group has announced the availability of technical previews of the new Vulkan API for high efficiency graphics and compute on modern GPUs at this year's GDC 2015. Vulkan was previously known as glNext. Read more.

Epic Games announced at this year's GDC 2015 that Unreal Engine 4 is now available for free. This includes the source code to the engine which is hosted on the company's GitHub repository. Read more.

28 February 2015.
The Khronos Group has been hard at work on a cross-platform graphics API designed for modern programming techniques and processors currently known only as glNext. They will be holding a number of sessions at GDC 2015 where they will be discussing glNext.
